My Review on Legally Blonde: The Musical

My first reaction when I heard that Legally Blonde was being turned into a musical was, “Oh my God. NO!” My second reaction was, “they really need to stop turning movies into musicals,” but let’s stay focus. On July 27, 2012 at Chantilly High School in Virginia, my friend and I went to see it and to our surprise, it was awesome. There were some slip ups at times involving the music numbers, but it was their opening night. It happens.  Overall we enjoyed ourselves!
          Legally Blonde is about a college student, Elle Woods, who is high off life and fashion. Elle seems to have it all; she’s popular, has great friends, and a wonderful boyfriend. However, things started to turn when her boyfriend dumps her because he wanted to be with someone more ‘serious’. In attempts to win him back, Elle transfers to the same law school as him. On the journey to change herself, not only does she realize that she’s not the ‘dumb blonde’ people think she is, but she also ends up finding a new love and gaining a better future than she planned for.

Taylin Frame, who played Elle Woods, did an amazing job. Taylin stayed true to the original character from the movie version, played by Reese Witherspoon. She had a twist in making the character a little bit of her own. The show was really funny and gave hope that if life doesn’t go your way than something better will be given in return. I give this 3 and a half out of 4 stars!
